I’m already aware of what kind of geography I live but every time I cannot stop to surprise that how marvellous land and how many things exist to see on this gorgeous land. Whenever I plan a trip to a little place, to corners with less touristic interest, this place always makes me surprise much. Usak is one of this places, I mean, I could never ever imagine this beautiful city with the important situation in the history.
The city is located 210 far away from Izmir, is between central Anatolia and the Aegean region. Usak was the first Turkish city to have an urban electricity network, the first city in which the collective labour relationship agreement was signed during Ottoman era between leather industry workers and employees and the first factory of Republican Turkey, sugar refinery was set up. Also one of the important part of Usak is carpets, the city is famous for manufactory of carpets that even they decorated many European paintings in history.
One of the most interesting part of Usak was the nature for me: green city and fresh air. My eyes were almost bling for amazing view of the greenness at waterfall.
Then let’s have a look at this little lovely city.

I have never imagined a canyon too big and impressive: looks without limit, without boundary, enormous and free. I was impressed much by greatness and the impression of seeing a canyon for the first time in my life. Canyon is located in province of Ulubey, Usak, it is told that it is the second biggest canyon of the world after the Grand Canyon from USA, and occurs of a main canyon and dozens of siding ones towards stream of Ulubey and Banaz and then these streams turns the canyon into a paradise. The canyon will be opened for turism of paragliding and nature when the stream of Dokuzsele is cleaned but even now it is possible to walk around or drive around it via terrain vehicle and it is possible to do different kind of water sports around Banaz stream.
Also the ancient city of Blaundus is very close to here. This time I didn´t have time to see it but for sure it worth to see much this ancient city.
Trip Advisor
The saddest part of seeing on this canyon was the pollution. All this industry, the factories and the studios de leatherwork are killing this nature and the stream almost has a black colour. So we turned this heaven into a hell through our hands. We hope that finally the conscious of keeping this beauty and the publicity to visit this heaven will increase.

The other impressive province is Karahalli, the neighbour of Ulubey, and the area is crossed by Banaz Stream. The bridge of Clandras is situated on this stream and it was built on Lydians period, almost 2500 years ago and it is thought that it was built for Royal Road. The construction of bridge is very interesting that it wasn’t built like a walkway but to unite two sides of mountain not to let them separate never and so the form of construction is very interesting; the feet of bridge was not buried under the earth but it was replaced inside of strong stones. There is not too much information about the bridge but it is guest that it was built for Royal Road.
This place is full of peace and tranquillity. The waterfall flowing under the bridge moves the soul to a paradise. It is possible to have a picnic, to walk around and to have a rest and find the peace there.

The art of weaving is coming to Anatolia in the period of Phrygians and Lydians. In that period, cause of the quality of wool of animals of the region it was started to produce thread y towel to use this wool. The art of weaving replaced to Anatolia through Turkish tribes to Seljuk. The weaving was used traditionally to make private trousseau in the Turkish society and after the death of the person it was shared like heritage or donated to mosques.
So, Uşak is famous for its carpet/rug that they decorated many palaces and they used in many corner of the world. The themes on carpets are very original and mysterious. Many European painters used these carpets as decor on their paintings, some of them are Hans Holbein and Lorenzo Lotto. The Uşak carpets also had significant value in Ottoman era, especially in Sultan Suleiman era, they invited many artists to develop and to keep this art. Today also it is tried to increase the quality and so it is produced natural threads in the region and they are exported to the world.

One of the favourite part in Usak is this museum. Because I am in love what is going out from this earth as archaeological pieces are products of a deep and developed culture that is belong to many years ago. The most interesting part for me the Karun Treasure, Croesus Treasure or treasure of Lydians.
The treasure is found in the province of Usak and it was moved to USA with a purchase of robbery and illegal exportation. After a long war in 1933, the treasure repatriated and after 2 years exposed in Ankara Museum, it was transferred and exposed in Usak Archaeology Museum.
In 2016, it was discovered that one the most important piece of treasure, golden hippocamp, had been substituted with a replica and this substitution wasn’t realized by the authorities of museum. In 2012 the original piece was found in Germany, after it was sold at least twice.
The sculptures belong to the period of Bronze Age and also the earthenware pots and cups belong to the Hellenistic and Roman period.
